That's right, we found out this morning that Sophie is going to have a little brother. We're very excited to have one of each! He looked fantastic. Hopefully we'll be able to scan the ultrasound pictures and post them. Yay!
Sophie has been doing well. Her new favorite game is playing peekaboo, usually while she's eating. She has also started giving things to us, although it's easy to mistake that action as throwing the object at us. And just this week, she started to happily feed us when we open our mouths for her (but not too wide, or she gets scared). She loves going outside, and wherever we go she always seems to know right where the door is.
For some reason, she has gotten much more affectionate over the past week as well. Whereas before she was barely affectionate at all, lately she is much willing to sit quietly on my lap or next to me, or to give me her version of a hug. It's not really being clingy, and she doesn't do it enough to get on my nerves. It's mostly just cute.
Today we had her one-year doctor visit where she had several new vaccinations. We've been to the doctor enough now that I can say it's a pattern: she gets VERY upset as soon as we go into the exam room at the doctor's office. It's like she knows something bad is going to happen in there. She cries from the moment we walk in, all through the weighing and measuring and harmless examinations, enough so that it's barely different when it's actually time for the shots. And I'm even holding her for most of the time. It's very odd. And yet, she doesn't do it when we're at a doctor for MY appointment... as if she notices whether the focus is on her or not. I still almost cried when she reacted to the needles going in. My sweet little girl was so unhappy. I hope she feels happier when she wakes up from her nap!
yay! congratulations! so fun!
