Then came Sophie's real birthday. We went to our usual baby time at the library that morning, where everyone sang to Sophie and she got a special sticker. In the afternoon, we went shopping for a birthday outfit -- I want to make this a tradition that we do every year! After John got home, we took Sophie to Chick-Fil-A, where she ate chicken nuggets and got a purple balloon twisted in the shape of a dog. Then we came back home and Sophie ate a birthday cookie while we sang to her and showed her presents we got her. For her first birthday, we got her a couple of Dr. Seuss books, a Fisher-Price activity table, a talking lawnmower, and an outdoor slide and activity structure for our backyard. Here is a video of Sophie wearing a birthday dress (not the one we bought together):
Finally, we had a birthday party for Sophie this past Saturday. A lot of people came, including John's parents who helped us a lot with the preparations, some of Sophie's friends and their parents, and many of John's colleagues. Here is a link to some of the pictures from the weekend.
We also did the March for Babies this weekend. We had a great time, and can't wait to do it next year. Thanks so much to everyone who supported us... we walked the whole 3 miles!
There are a couple more videos from the birthday parties that I may try to post at another time, but I wanted to make these pics and video available for right now.
